Leiria is the starting point the Batalha Monastery (Unesco World Heritage), Alcobaça Monastery (Unesco World Heritage), Fátima (Portugal most important Sanctuary) and several nearby beaches. However, Leiria is worth a visit due to its imposing castle and beautiful city centre.
