DESCRIPTION

Alcobaça is a beautiful city located in a valley among the rivers Alcoa and Baça. After the conquest of Santarém, D. Afonso Henriques (Portuguese first king) constructed a church in Alcobaça. Along the centuries, the church evolved into the Monastery of Alcobaça, a beautiful Gothic Monastery. Inside are the tombs of king D. Pedro I and his murdered mistress Inês de Castro, the most iconic love history in Portuguese history.
