Santa María la Real de la Almudena Cathedral was built for 110 years due to religious politics between Madrid and the Archdiocese of Toledo. Inaugurated in 1993 the Cathedral was consecrated by Pope John Paul II. The Cathedral is a mixture of different styles, e neoclassical exterior, a gothic interior and a neo-romanesque crypt.
