Decimated during World War II the authotities planned to leave the ruins as a reminder of the horrors of war but fortunately this city was restored to respect its historical significance. Located by the Main river (Rhine tributary), Wurzburg has the most enchanting baroque building in Germany, the Residenz. Across the river, Marienberg is an amazing castle that offers a breathtaking view over Wurzburg.
