Michaelerplatz is dominated by the entrance gate of the Hofburg Imperial Palace. However, this square has much more to see. Opposite from the Hofburg Imperial Palace there is of the first modern buildings in the city, Looshaus. Michaelerkirche has the parish church of the emperors. In the middle of the square there Roman and medieval remains.
