DESCRIPTION

Jerónimos Monastery was built in the 16th century was a monument to the Age of Discoveries. The stonework of the cloisters are dedicated to the Portuguese heroes that travelled seas never before navigated and are a wonder to appreciate. Vasco da Gama, the navigator that discovered the maritime route to India, lies in this place as an example of the Portuguese immortality.
