Sé Velha (Old Cathedral) is one of the most important Portuguese building in Romanesque style. His construction began after the Ourique war, in 1139, when Afonso Henriques was declared the first king of Portugal and chose Coimbra as capital. On the steps of Sé Velha, the Serenata (student playing Fado) marks the beginning of Queima das Fitas.
