Built between 1717 and 1728, the Joanina Library is one of the most important Portuguese Baroque buildings. The Telegraph elected the Joanina Library one of the most spectacular libraries in the world. Joanina Library has collected 250 thousand books over 280 years including the first edition of the "Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin.
