DESCRIPTION

Jelling served as royal seat during the Viking's most dominant era, and Gorm the Old, Denmark's first king, starting a lineage that continues unbroken to this day. Although, Gorm's castle location still remains a mystery, Jelling burial ground and runestones are a reminder of the Viking ages. Jelling is also the birthplace of Denmark itself, seen in the inscription of Harald Bluetooth in one of the runestones.
