DESCRIPTION
Singel is an ancient canal that encircles Amsterdam. During the Middle Ages it was a moat used to protect the city until 1585 when Amsterdam expanded. Nowadays, Singel is the inner-most canal of the semicercular ring of canals that circles Amsterdam.
