Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio is the finest example of Romanesque Basilicas in Italy and one of the oldest churches in Milan (12th century). After Duomo, the Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio is perhaps the second most important religious building in the city. The facade, the gold mosaic in the dome, and the interior arches are fantastic. The atrium usually presents exhibitions and other events.
