Loch Ness is a freshwater lake in the Scottish Highlands. Due to its great depth, this lake holds more fresh water than all lakes in England and Wales combined. The alleged sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, known as "Nessie", attracts thousands tourists every year. The Urquhart Castle is a mandatory monument on the Loch Ness shores and it was constructed on the 13th century, and played an important role in the Wars of Scottish Independence.
