Hadrian's Wall is a the biggest construction made by the Roman Empire. Between AD 122 and 128 the Romans constructed the wall to separate their Empire from the Scottish Picts, a tribal nation that used to terrorize the roman invaders. The 120 km Hadrian's Wall can still be visited more then 2000 years after their construction. From Hexham Train Station you can catch a bus to Hadrian's Wall Chesters, a fantastic section of the Hadrian's Wall.
